More Ways to Watch
Kino Lorber, a leading name in independent film distribution for over 45 years, is expanding Kino Film Collection with its own direct-to-consumer streaming service with apps for Apple TV, Fire TV, Android TV, and Roku. The website and powerful search tool were designed and built on Logic CMX using Vimeo API to connect to the video library and metadata connected from Kino Lorber's main product database also hosted on Logic CMX.
Following a successful launch last November in the U.S. on Prime Video Channels, where it will remain available, the service will now also be available as a standalone streaming service for $5.99 per month or $59.99 per year after a 7-day free trial. The Collection features hundreds of films from Kino Lorber’s expansive library of more than 4,000 titles, many now streaming for the first time, along with new releases fresh from theaters and festivals.
In commemoration of its May expansion, Kino Film Collection shines a spotlight on projects and auteurs showcased at the Cannes Film Festival. This curated assortment encompasses early contributions from luminaries such as Yorgos Lanthimos, Jia Zhangke, and Ken Loach, as well as recent festival standouts like the Cannes award-winning and Oscar®-nominated film Four Daughters (Golden Eye Award), directed by Kaouther Ben Hania, and Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell (Caméra d’Or), helmed by writer-director Pham Tien An.
“The Cannes Film Festival is the beating heart of cinema, and there’s no better place to share the news about this expansion of Kino Film Collection to our own direct-to-consumer streaming service for North American film lovers,” said Richard Lorber, Chairman and CEO of Kino Lorber. “Cannes and the Kino Film Collection are so intertwined because we share a love and appreciation of great films, and we’re very proud to feature so many works that first screened at Cannes among our Collection of the classics of tomorrow and the best of cinema past.”
“It’s been gratifying to see how audiences have enthusiastically embraced our channel on Amazon Prime Video. We’ve been encouraged by the passion, loyalty, and curiosity of our subscribers,” said Lisa Schwartz, Chief Revenue Officer, Kino Lorber. “The expansion to direct to consumer is the next natural, and important, step for us as we continue to ensure the Kino Film Collection is a bastion of film curation for New Release and Catalogue films as well as film preservation.”

Perhaps the most intriguing feature of the new subscription service is the powerful search, browse, and filter features built into Logic CMX that allow Cyber-NY to connect Kino Lorber's film database of over 4,000 titles to Vimeo's OTT service and populate queries drawn from Vimeo playlists and Kino's metadata. That sounds like a lot, but from the user's perspective, it means that within a few clicks, you are able to find films by subject, director, genre, decade, and country while narrowing the list to find the perfect film to watch. This feature improves discoverability of titles significantly.
